Mild the Mist upon the Hill Bengali Meaning
About The Poet: Emily Jane Bronte (1818 -1848)
Emily Bronte (born July 30, 1818, Thornton, Yorkshire, England—died December 19, 1848, Haworth, Yorkshire), was possibly the finest of the three Bronte sisters, but the record of her life is exceedingly limited since she was quiet and reserved and left no interesting correspondence, and her sole work just adds to the mystery of her spiritual existence rather than solving it.
Emily Jane Bronte (1818 -1848) was an English poet and novelist, best remembered for her only novel, Wuthering Heights, long considered a classic of English literature.
In this poem the blue mist that surrounds the distant mountains reminds the poet of the happy days of youth and childhood that she has left behind. As she describes the landscape, she shifts from the present moment to the past, and then to the present again.
Mild the Mist upon the Hill Poem Summary:
The mountain peak is shrouded by a thin fog. The mood is gloomy and depressing. It indicates that there will be no rain the next day. All of the silent sorrows of the day have been washed away by the relentless rains that have continued till the evening. There is no longer any melancholy in the air. The grown-up poet has taken a trip down memory lane to her idyllic childhood days. Her father was caring for her at the time. She used to stand by the old entrance of the hall.
The poet now sees a gloomy evening approaching slowly and quietly. A layer of summer mists may be seen on the far mountain's horizon. The morning dues are still visible through the fog on the lush green grass. In the middle of a peaceful natural setting, the nostalgic poet detects the scent of her dreamy and exquisite joys of the past.
