Ans: In the sonnet no. 18, the poet, Shakespeare says that the darling blossoms of summer are shaken off by the rough winds sometimes and thereby destroy the beauty of nature.

The phrase ‘summer’s lease’ is a legal term which suggests the span of life of summer season in this sonnet. Here, the poet wants to mean that natural beauty will not last for long time. Summer’s duration is short. It has its natural duration which will not continue forever.

In the beauty of summer, there are some deficiencies also. It is often seen that the darling buds of summer are destroyed by the rough wind before they can come to full bloom. Sometimes the explosive heat of the sun causes the discomfort in the nature and again sometimes clouds fill in the sky and the sun’s brightness diminishes.
